Beterbiev has been stung, and has been dropped, but he's gotten up to win by knockout. That's the sign of a true champion, watching his knockouts are awe inspiring. He is prone to injuries, even during training camp that's not a good sign. It has even stalled his career to a certain extent. He's already 35, and once your body starts to break down like that the end of your career is near. He still looks to have a few good fights left, and I'd like to see him against Bivol, or Canelo.

Beterbiev has gone from bursting on the scene 3-4 years ago, busy, hungry and seemingly ready to fight anyone.

I'm not sure what has been slowing him down ( even before the Corona epidemic) and his level of opposition has not matched his early rhetoric when he first won the WBA strap about wanting to immediately clean out the division and take over.

But that's what every young hungry fighter says don't they? It's not like they're going to say 'look, my goal is to capture a belt, defend it against the lowest but most respectable opposition, fight maybe twice a year, talk utter trash, try to land sponsorship deals and promotional contracts, and generally just make money.
Screw the fans and what they want.'

This is the fight that the fight fans want to see as these guys are the cream of the crop in a stacked division with lots of talent.

Beterbiev needs to take this fight by the end of next year as he is entering his mid-thirties, so if he wants that big pay day, a unification fight with Bivol properly hyped could see big numbers.

Bivol is certainly the better technical fighter, and tends to work on the outside if he senses his opponent has good stamina and heavy hands.

Bivol has decent power and can take a punch, but he dosn't really appear to like getting in the trenches like Beterbiev does.

This would be a real pick-em fight and one I would be very excited to see - as long as it happens before Beterbiev is too old.

As I said there is some great depth of talent in this division which should see the next generation be just as exciting as the current.

Interestingly, Badou Jack is scheduled to fight an 8 rounder in late November against a 13-0 fighter who has fought bums his whole career.

Why doesn't Jack either retire, or go for broke with one more crack? why bother with an exhibition fight?

Lovin it. That's two interviews in a row where he's mentioned King Artur and, coincidentally, it comes hot on the heels of me having a pop at Bivol for not 'going there'. It feels good to know Bivol is reading BoxingScene and specifically MY comments.
          No doubt about that anymore

bivol has a enough boxing ability and speed to make this interesting. i think beterbiev is too much and will win by devastating KO.

also bivol has called out canelo many times to fight at 168 or 175. but canelo no response. why?

but two inexperienced bums managed it.
