  • Comments Thread For: Lomachenko-Lopez: Judges, Referee Revealed For Saturday Night

LAS VEGAS The Nevada State Athletic Commission has assigned an experienced, familiar panel of judges to the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Teofimo Lopez fight Saturday night. BoxingScene.com was informed Wednesday that Nevada's Tim Cheatham, New York's Julie Lederman and New Jersey's Steve Weisfeld will judge their 12-round lightweight title unification fight at MGM Grand Conference Center. The NSAC also has assigned veteran Nevada referee Russell Mora to the Lomachenko-Lopez fight.

Mora huh? Teo planning on winning the Salido way? Low blowing Loma to a decision?

Seriously though I don't have any objections with those officials...

All the big promotions have judges, but its nothing illegal or direct; its more Pavlovian. Every time a judge scores a close fight for the A-Side fighter, promoted by the big promoter, they get more fights to judge and more money. They subconsciously know where there bread is buttered and lean that way.

While Russell Mora and Laurence Cole may look a lot alike they are not the same person.

I wonder who the screw job would favour if it was in...? Loma has big fights with guys like Tank there to be made, Teo can't make weight much longer I doubt but is young English speaking, charismatic and Hispanic so his long term upside is good too...

Anyway I rate Lopez and he has the type of "It" factor and Power it will take to beat Lomachenko so I give him a real shot but I would be fairly surprised if he pulled it out. To me Loma is still in his prime (tail end of) and is as good as it gets. Yes Teofimo will be heavier and stronger and carries more power aswell as being 9 years younger but he isn't busy enough or adaptive and clever enough to be the Ukrainian who is p4p#1 in my eyes

Credit to both for making it happen.

And to those who Say Lopez should wait another year, He is a CHAMPION. That in itself is a declaration that you are the best and thus must be ready for all and any
