It’s a mixture of having the right timing/reflexes, technique and body type. Short stocky guys like Berto and Broner will never have success with it. It worked for Hopkins because he had the right technique for it. He wasn’t naturally as talented and gifted as Mayweather was, but B-Hop was the poster child of “hard work pays off.”

It was a very common technique back in the old days. Used by
Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore and so on and so forth.

To be awesome with it you should start as young as possible though.

It's very hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Not impossible...but very hard.

I thought Adrien broner had a pretty good one

He stopped working on his skill set after the maidana fight or never was the same

I always felt he didn’t have the legs for it tho

It won't come along late in a boxers career. A young fighter has to be disciplined and work on it on a consistent basis.

Devin Haney will be the next to perfect it.

I say only about 1% of boxers can master the shoulder roll .Floyd and Floyd Sr James Toney.Niccolino Lochee and Georgie Benton are the only ones I can think of
