Loma is the best lightweight, he'll be the No.1 in the division by far if he beats Lopez but ...

he holds a WBC belt that was handed him and he doesn't have to defend so just No.

      Play on words

Sulieman is saying Lomachenko and Top Rank requested the Franchise Belt. Loma has said he never requested Franchise and was not aware of Top Rank requesting it. So, someone from Top Rank requested it to Sulieman unbeknownst to Loma. If rejected then Loma would not be the wiser. But because it was accepted then Loma was told. Loma's response to the affair was answering a question in an interview about this topic, in particular of what Sulieman stated months ago to that effect, that Top Rank and Loma requested it. Unless Sulieman got a direct request from Loma or was told by Top Rank that Loma is requesting it, it's just lumping together, an assumption on Sulieman's part, that Top Rank had informed Loma prior, it's semantics (from Sulieman's point of view, they are a whole team and are represented as one unit). Top Rank's motivation was to cut off DAZN at the knees for a bid. Lomachenko would care less about Top Rank's business acumen and reasons for what they do, machinating behind the scenes for their own bottom line. Loma has stated two fights he wanted in 2020 were Tank and Haney after the IBF. Franchise allows him to make those plans and not be burdened by a mandatory, at least for the WBC. And Loma again stated, responding to a Haney tweet, that he accepts a fight with Haney; he stated this mid-Covid lockdown period.

Looking deeper and case in point, Top Rank again petitioned for Lopez. And Teo was not the one requesting it because he was just as surprised that Top Rank was making the request based on reactions and assumptions Franchise was non-transferrable. I'm sure as with the initial request by Top Rank, Top Rank didn't ask Loma if that was okay to make it transferrable. Because they are wheeling and dealing behind the scenes and the fighters are hearing of it second hand. 'A similar process was afforded Lopez during the WBC’s annual convention earlier this summer. Top Rank submitted a request for Lopez to be eligible for Franchise status should he beat Lomachenko'. Top Rank is just doing some wheeling and dealing, doing their jobs, and the fighters are background fodder, bystanders finding out about it after. I'm sure there is a lot of wheeling and dealing the fighters don't see, going on, that we don't hear about. DAZN, Golden Boy and PBC all are doing similar wheeling and dealing behind the scenes. That's what promotion companies do.

Follow up question: "So then Devin Haney is just a "regular" titlist with the #1 contender belt, not an actual WBC champion, right?"

This is called doing a 2 for 1. When it's convenient to promote Haney as the champion because he has a fight coming up that you want to sell tickets to and hype up, you call him champion. Then he goes on the bench for 4 months, while Lomachenko fights, and as Lomachenko's fight approaches, you bring up how he has the WBC belt and he's the champion.

2 for 1. In a sport with 4 sanctioning bodies and a billion weight classes. YOU ARE BEING MANIPULATED, PURPOSEFULLY, AND SKILLFULLY.

So what’s the belt Haney pulled out of the garbage then?
                      It belongs in the garbage.

Do you really think Haney has a world title? He beat a nobody guy that had 11 non title fights against bums! Then he defended it against a guy that had 12 non title fights against bums!
