Wouldn’t trust the source but I’ve always felt Wilder is going to essentially wait for the clause to expire and not take the rematch
But in a way he’s kind of in a position not to take it because he’s going to be out of the title picture for a long time or for good otherwise.
Unless we hear it from a reputable source or official source then I’ll assume it’s still happeningLast edited by deathofaclown; 10-10-2020, 10:44 AM.Comment

Yeah I still see that fight having a lot of roadblocks
All they have agreed is the split and that they will fight in principle. Anyone can do that.
That still doesn’t tackle the problem that they are on different networks. Fury is contracted to ESPN and although Joshua has no official contract with DAZN, I can’t see Eddie just letting him go and fight on ESPN and leave DAZN out in the cold. And the way ESPN and DAZN operate doesn’t really work in terms of doing a joint broadcast. DAZN said they will never do PPV. Their formats aren’t compatible. I don’t see how it works.
I’m sure Sky and BT is easy to do a joint PPV though as they don’t operate any differently and the fight is so big in the UK that both broadcasters will make insane money.Comment

They want to make the fight but the money isn’t there. Scrambling to find it.
There might be 4-5 million for each guy as it is right now, but that’s a quarter of what they made last time out. Wilders people could get him paid the same money to fight a tuneup and take a step-aside fee for Fury-Joshua... ******/risky move for both guys to fight for that little, but Wilder holds the cards on the rematch clause.Comment

Completely False!
“It’s simply not true (that the contract has expired),” Finkel told WBN on Saturday. In regards to when the fight will take place, Finkel added more. “Deontay Wilder is fighting Tyson Fury in December. We are working on the fight. We will update and keep WBN informed.”

My question is this...if it was about a clause reaching an expiration date, why wouldn't that have happened before now?
If, for example, the contract called for a rematch within 6 months, that would have late August as the time the contract would be moot.
When I hear the folks involved say it themselves, I'll believe it. Til then, to me it's just folks trying to spin their way into something that isn't going to happen anyway.
Because, even if Fury WAS somehow miraculously free of a contractual obligation that ANY COURT ANYWHERE would readily uphold, that doesn't mean AJ would be.
AJ has not one, but two mandatories he has to see before the winner of Wilder/Fury...and neither Pulev or Usyk has given any indication that they will take step aside money to facilitate an all British showdown.
So, nice try...but no.Comment
