Ortiz is actually the bigger man compared to prime George Foreman. Foreman was 6'3 220 lbs when he fought Ali. Ortiz is 6'4 240. George doesn't do anything better than Ortiz besides punch harder. Ortiz out boxes him and stops him just like Ali did.

In any event you have to give Foreman the chin and power edge

See the thing with Foreman is that back in the olden days he was considered "Big George"

At 6 foot 4 and 215lbs, "that is not a man" they used to say, "that is a monster"

That size was considered enormous, as the average male back then was probably like 5'7" and 155lb

Foreman wasn't exactly known for being some skilled technician, he was just this "huge monster" who threw slow clubbing shots and plodded forward like Michael Myers

But these days, human beings have evolved, I can go to my local high school and find a Dozen 16 year old jocks who are as big as Foreman, he wouldn't be a "monster of a man" these days, and if he fought even average sized heavyweight like Ortiz he'd actually be outsized.

People need to get real, Foreman wouldn't get away with that average skillset these days.

The equivalent to George Foreman these days would be like a 6'10" 350lb guy with wilders power and a granite chin, beating guys just on sheer size and power and just being massive.

The actual George just wouldn't cut it, the world's moved on, and you old school fans need to adjust with the times.

Stevenson didn't have the chin for the Pro ranks.

Ortiz may not survive the first few rounds. But if he does he wins a wide UD.

Foreman was dropped by Lyle. He wanted no part of Quarry.

The fact someone thought this was worth a thread shows me the lack of knowledge here. George would have ground Ortiz into a fine dust before the third round.

In 80 fights vs basically everyone, he was only stopped once by Ali which was basically fatigue. If you don't know that Big George has one of the best chins in HW history, then you don't know much about boxing. No offense. But you sound silly by acting like Ortiz has any standing chin-wise vs Foreman.

All of these people picking Ortiz must be trolling or something. And I say that as someone who agrees that fighters get better generally over time. But Ortiz has done nothing to justify anyone giving him a serious chance vs Foreman.

That is absurd, he did not win a gold medal and become two time lineal champion not having any skills, He is very underrated in that regard. He had excellent control of space, go back and watch his fights, he knew how to move his opponent to where he wanted them to be and keep them at the range he wanted them to be.

He was a plodding, primitive bum

Honestly if he was around today I'm not sure if he gets past Lartey or Gorman who fought earlier
