I can't really remember much of the fight, just that Figueroa won. If these punches behind the head were in the clinch while Vazquez turned his head, then it's frowned upon, punishable, but not damaging at all. If the punches were as Vazquez was trying to duck or slip punches and exposing the side/back of his head...then it's not punishable as it's unintentional and Vazquez' fault. As was with Wilder vs. Fury 1 (first knockdown Wilder scored, Fury turned his head, causing the punch to land behind the ear) and 2 (Wilder turned his head, causing the punch to land behind the ear). Unless there were egregious instances where Figueroa threw a punch at an already exposed and clearly visible back of the head...then nothing will come of it.

The danger in illegal rabbit punching! Example what happen with blue chip prospect Shawn Simpson, one blow to the back of the head with 16oz gloves in Sparring, Simpson career in in question at this point! Sad!!Comment

I said before the fight Vazquez was coming into this fight with the wrong gameplan when he wasn't a brawler he is a boxer he looked good in the early rounds but started staying on the inside too much and that's where he paid. He did get hit sometimes behind the head but it wasn't intentional he was initiating the clinch alot and would turn with the punches Figueroa was not throwing haymakers to the back of his head he was trying to land punches but Damien was smothering him.
His corner should be blamed because he had nothing left by the mid rounds yet they kept telling him otherwise and sent him out there to keep getting beat up.Comment
