I think you could easily argue for or against a few guys.

    My list would be:

    Jack Dempsey
    Muhammad Ali
    Sugar Ray Leonard
    Mike Tyson
    Floyd Mayweather

I think you could make arguments for:

    John L Sullivan
    Joe Louis
    Sugar Ray Robinson
    Oscar De La Hoya
    Manny Pacquiao

Probably a few others I'm forgetting.

How many PPV buys did Marcos Maidana, Victor Ortiz & Robert Guerrero have combined before or after fighting Floyd if you are correct?

Why did Oscar never have as big a PPV buy number than with Floyd if it was all about Oscar?

Idk why some of y'all can't just give credit where it's due with Floyd sh^t.

Leonard made $40,000 for his pro debut. Absolutely unheard of at the time.

Leonard, Hearns, Hagler and Duran were making considerably more money per bout than Larry Holmes.

Yeah exactly bro, Leonard-Duran, Leonard-Hearns, Hagler-Hearns, Leonard-Hagler all broke records at the time.

Unfortunately Holmes could never really find a good dance partner, Cooney was probably the closest he got to a super fight during his peak, aside from when he reluctantly battered the ghost of Ali.

no ray leonard was and in fact he was the first fighter to make 100 million dollars in his career....in 1981 against hearns he made 11 million dollars which at the time was the highest purse ever including the heavyweights and that was before there was any ppv on a grand scale.
Leonard was the original golden boy

                  I would say
                  Joe Louis
                  Muhammad Ali
                  Sugar ray leonard
                  Mike Tyson
Floyd mayweather ...and Oscar just missing out
The first 3 on the list missed out on being available to watch at home on ppv or box office on a grand scale because of technology and it was just closed circuit but they still packed out cinemas.
