    THROWBACK: Mayweather/Hatton Press Conference...and aftermath

Hatton was one of the best to co-promote fights and have his fans believe what he was saying. This is what's missing - too much "happy to be here" and nonsense that nobody cares about after the fight. We need DRAMA. We need BEEF (even if fake). We need entertainment. Sells the fight.

Floyd's reaction at the time was strange - but in hindsight it was scary, because you could tell just like with Ortiz that he was in his mind going to hurt this man.

Hatton would say years later that Mayweather fought and beat the best version of him - Manny beat a lesser, drug riddled, alcohol imbued version of him (due to depression over losing to Floyd).

the 1st episode of 24/7 where floyd says to ellerbe "make the ****ing fight happen" i know floyd was gonna hurt hatton. hatton thought he was slick though when he was breathing a sigh of relief after watching floyd rearrange gatti's face and then going to 147.

And the thing is, Floyd only ever got that worked up when his opponent was an effective smack talker. Mosley, Hatton, Ortiz, Gatti, Chico.

Which is why I was disappointed that Manny just never had that in him, so I could see Floyd just walk the man down.

same. i could see the slow motion crowd breaking down how walking down doesn't mean anything.
