Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker-Junior Fa - Deal Reached, December 11, Spark Arena

A deal has been reached for the New Zealand grudge match between heavyweights Joseph Parker and Junior Fa. The two sides have been engaged in negotiations for more than six months - and they were finally able to square away all of the disagreements over money and even the gloves.

I had some hopes for Junior Fa as a pro thought he may be something of a dark horse but so far he's been real dissapointing and almost never looks impressive even against a very low level of opponent.

This fight makes financial sense in NZ as they can sell it as a grudge match but it really doesn't do much for Parkers career.

Considering Parker lost a close decision to lose his title over 2 years ago, the last 2 years of his career hasn't been impressive, he strikes me as a fighter who has lost his hunger after a couple of multi million dollar paydays and is just going through the motions now.

Much like Tua vs Cameron although this one will likely have half the violence.

Does anyone really give a ****? JP gets pushed hard but I don't know any and never have known any JP fans. Plenty think he's a good HW but there is no JP crew like the Furious, the Joshua Protection League, or the Bombzquad.

Seems like JP's number one fans are the Media ***s.

Pretty normal for a guy who lost 2 big fights to take a step back & rebuild a little. Flores, Leapai, Winters & now Fa are good rebuilding fights. Fa is the WBO #6 so it is a big fight for both. Parker can’t afford to lose. If he beats Fa you can bet he will be in line for another big fight.

Parker knows what he is doing. He is fighting the guys he can beat comfortably while waiting on another title shot.
