UNCASVILLE, Connecticut Ronnie Shields couldn't have been more pleased with Jermall Charlo's performance Saturday night. Charlo's trainer praised the unbeaten WBC middleweight champion for displaying intelligence and discipline while fighting the toughest opponent he has encountered as a middleweight. Now that the Houston native has proven himself against a top 160-pound contender by beating Sergiy Derevyanchenko convincingly, Shields is hopeful that the 30-year-old Charlo can land the biggest fight of his career a showdown with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez.

“We could fight him at 168, we could fight him at 175,” Shields said. “Wherever he wanna fight, we could fight. It shouldn’t be no problem.”

As long as it's on PBC/Fox in the US, not DAZN. Otherwise, as we've already seen, Haymon will block the fight.

Jermall really “rose to the occasion/competition” against old Korobov. Lol! Shields hoping Canelo throws them a bone 🦴

I don't think Canelo would duck Charlo. I'd favour Canelo to win but it's a very good fight, better than the Canelo-Jacobs fight we already had.

Beterbiev and Bivol would be much tougher fights for Canelo if he went back to light heavyweight. Charlo has a better chance against Golovkin, and also he should fight Andrade.

I would pay for that fight.

But now Caneloroid is in a legal battle so he is pretty much on the sideline.

Nothing but Lies. Charlo already turned down a fight at 160, I'm sure it's going to be, I'll fight you at 168 but I want 30 million.

C'mon Ronnie, don't beg! If Jermall can fight Canelo @ 168, then surely he can fight Caleb Plant @ 168 for the IBF title? Prioritize!!!
