The next major boxing Pay-Per-View event is officially on the move. Gervonta Davis and Leo Santa Cruz now have a new date and a firm location for their anticipated two-belt title fight showdown. Their originally scheduled October 24 Showtime PPV headliner will now take place one week later, moving to October 31 and to take place at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, three sources with intimate knowledge of the development confirmed to BoxingScene.com on Wednesday.

The reason boxing is going down the sh! tter is because everyone is now doing PPV as if they are elite stars. 90s few did PPV and it was reserved for the very best of the elite. No one wants to pay money to see this crap. Neither are PPV stars.

There was at least one PPV in the 90s up until the late 2000s.

This is the 2nd PPV of the year.
UFC does a PPV every month.
WWE does a PPV every month.

Boxing does maybe 4 (at the most) a year.

This fight is a farce imo. Santa Cruz started his career at super flyweight 115 pounds and has moved up five divisions and at 32 is too old and shopworn not to mention WAY TOO SMALL for this weight class. I’ve been a fan of Santa Cruz but this a sacrificial lamb PBC is cashing out. This isn’t even an above average Showtime network fight and nowhere near PPV.

This isn’t good news for Charlo Bros. PPV. I’m sure Espinoza got insiders already a couple days before. We went through a pandemic, surely there was flexibility to get some leaks earlier.

Davis PPV can’t compete with Khabib PPV. That’s the real reason why they’re moving it, and attendance is meant to give the show a bit more profit... I don’t think there’s a lot of money going to the fighters. This is the best Haymon can do.
