Comments Thread For: Devin Haney-Yuriorkis Gamboa: Announcement Imminent For 11/7 Fight

The deal is done for what will be Devin Haney's first fight in almost exactly a year. BoxingScene.com has learned DAZN and Matchroom Boxing will announce soon that, as expected, Haney (24-0, 15 KOs) will defend his WBC world lightweight title against Yuriorkis Gamboa (30-3, 18 KOs) on November 7. The site of their 12-round, 135-pound championship match will be revealed as part of that announcement.

Meh. At least it's a step up in competition for Haney. Which isn't saying much.

Yup, this nails it... after the Munguia/Johnson card, I will be cancelling my subscription w/t DAZN. These two recently announce Matchroom USA cards are horrible mismatches.

I'm supporting the youngest champ in the sport and the real WBC lightweight champion. Mrs. Gary Russell jr, Bumochenko, Rihanna Garcia, don't want smoke with Young-Money.

sure - Loma fighting the more powerful more popular Lopez who just destroyed Comney in 2 rds...Devina “jumbo nostrils” Haney can’t draw flies to crap and hasn’t beaten any top lightweight!

You and your stories. Haney is talented but is holding one of many meaningless trinkets. This is not much of a step up but it's something at least it isn't against another complete nobody. Question, who has a better resume Haney or Loma? Answer honestly.

Gamboa becoming a gatekeeper for the "young hungry lions". I'd assume Haney does a much better job than tank, whose performance was pathetic. Haney KO2.

Of course Loma has the better resume, but then again Loma is 32 while Haney is only 21 so we have to factor that in. Also, it's not Haney's fault that he was gifted his belt. I'm sure he would have preferred to fight Loma for it but Loma was elevated to "Franchise Champion"(whatever that means).

As for Gamboa, yes it is a step up and all Haney can do is win impressively like he's supposed to against an older, smaller opponent coming off of a serious injury.
