I guess he must know his body. He has been fighting for so many years as an amateur and a pro. If he is not drained at 154 I don't think anyone at that weight can beat him with the possible exception of Jermell.

If Jermall's best fighting weight is 175 how could he possibly be so strong and such a good fighter and big puncher fighting 15 pounds below where he should be fighting? Not so long ago he was fighting at 154 which would mean he was fighting over 20 pounds below his best weight if he really is a natural light heavyweight. Jermall is a long time pro who knows what he is doing. He fights at 160 because he feels great and fights well at 160. He is a middleweight fighting at his best weight in my opinion and his opinion. He could probably do well at 168 because middleweight is a stronger weight class than 168. He would be fighting well above his best weight at 175 and get crushed by Bivol and Beterbiev.

Drying out is nothing new. Fighters have been doing it for decades. If a fighter needs to dry out two weight classes, then he's in the wrong weight class. There is a reason we have weight classes, and shaving off 30+ pounds to make weight is circumventing the system if you pack most of it back on chugging water and eating a steak on fight day.

I think he would be dangerous at 168 but he cuts pretty nowadays so his career is slowly fading IMO

Derevy is pretty much a spent force.

            Andrande clowns him.
            Murata mauls him
Eubanks is perhaps a winnable fight.

I definitely agree that cuts are a major problem for him. Its so bad that they overshadow or give the impression that he was getting worked when in reality that wasn't the case at all.

                GGG
                Charlo

All these fights were pretty competitive. Derevyanchenko isn't a small guy either. Next to GGG he looked THICK.

I have sincere doubts he can perform at 154 but if its a last hurrah maybe he can sneak one in. Big maybe.

Not likely. he is already past his prime. Should stay where he is. Fight Sulecki , if he wins, than Murata, Eubank, Andrade.

But that is why some fighters looked so dominant in the past in some divisions. Hearns was a huge welterweight, but not so huge middleweight and jr. heavyweight.

It would be interesting to see if Jermall can be competitive fighting Benavidez, Bivol, Beterbiev.

Yeah I have became a fan of Dervy cause he is alot like Shawn Porter as far as always coming to fight. His losses are gains in their own right if that makes sense to you Lol
