A 50/50 fight is a dead even fight were both boxers have the exact same chance to win as their opponent. The problem is many posters are calling all fights that are not obviously one sided a 50/50 fight. For instance many call the Loma vs Lopez a 50/50 fight when it is not a 50'50 fight. Lopez has a big puncher's chance but Loma is a solid 3 to 1 betting favorite because he is a well proven top 3 pound for pound best in the world and rated the best by pfp by many whereas Lopez is on just about nobody's pfp best list because he has not yet proven he belongs there. Many are calling any fight that is the least bit close a 50/50 fight.

A 50 /50 fight is a toss up fight on paper . It doesn’t exactly mean it could be a close one though it could still prove to be either a first shot landed wins or the other guy gets out boxed in close rounds and losses etc.

There’s very little 50/50 fights in boxing it’s usually lopsided fights how the sport is situated but the close fights are the ones usually not touted as 50/50 .

A 50-50 fight is a match-up perceived to be so close that if the contestants were to fight 6 times each would win 3. However, the term is most often used when the betting odds are even, and predicting the outcome of a fight is so difficult that it seems like there is really no wrong answer because both fighters seem to stand the same chance to win.

A fight where it is near impossible to determine a favorite.

Personally I find real 50/50 fights rare. There is usually a favorite for me and I put a lot of stock in the eye test because I know what I'm watching and I box. For example people lazily called Wilder/Fury I a 50/50 fight but that was a very casual take in which people bought into both Wilders power and Furys layoff impact. I never believed the layoff mattered much and I always considered Fury to be exceptional and head and shoulders above the division (my eye test) so picking a favorite was easy for me.

It's also really lazy to say. If I sit and analyze fights of two guys who will fight, I come away with an argument as to why one guy should win 9 out of ten times. If I plan to bet on a fight where I'm not already familiar with both guys I go and watch footage. I think i do a good job of assessing someone's mindset and skill set.
