    Sturm vs DLH decision

Ok people many of you probably remember 2004 when DLH was on a collision course with Bernard Hopkins. DLH first fought Felix Sturm in a tune up of sorts. I think Sturm surprised many in the boxing world by putting up a stiff fight and in many peoples eyes should have been declared the victor. The decision was given to DLH and I'm sure that it was because a DLH loss would have derailed the Hopkins fight somehow. A lot of money would have been lost because many fans would have lost some level of interest. With that being said do you think that the judges were instructed before the fight to give DLH the decision even if they believed Sturm was the winner?

I doubt the judges even need instructions, man - at least no more than a casual hint at most - they know which side their bread's buttered on. You put in the right sorta scores you get invited back for the next big event, simple as. It's a nice gig judging at the top level fights, get a nice little payday, accomodation, wined and dined, hob-nob with the big names.... who wouldn't want more of that?

        - -All Sturm did was jab and stink. Oscar was the aggressor and remember, back he was the alpha and Omega with his own promotional company, his own PPV mint and had to hire a security team jus to beat the teen girls off him so no boxing insider liked him for stealing their shine.

Its been 16 years but I remember agreeing that Sturm won.

sturm dissapointed though afterwards, he may not have gotten the official win but the fight brought his name to the american audiences and most thought he was the true winner. He should have chased bigger fights after that but he ****ed back off to germany fighting eurobums for the next decade.

I saw it and I remember it well. I thought it was a terrible decision and Sturm boxed his ears off and deserved to win by a large amount in my opinion. Oscar was the A side with a capitol A. I never thought of him as a real middleweight champion even though he became one officially. I never thought of Horn as a real welterweight champ either.
