Comments Thread For: Bob Arum: Ramirez-Taylor Won't Happen Until 2021, When Fans Can Attend

The most meaningful fight in the 140-pound division won't happen until 2021, assuming heavily favored Josh Taylor beats Apinun Khongsong on Saturday night. Bob Arum informed BoxingScene.com that a Jose Ramirez-Taylor title unification fight is no longer an option for late in 2020. With most college football conferences now scheduled to play throughout the fall, ESPN has fewer needs for boxing content on Saturday nights in November and December.

Boxing promoters must all suck at their jobs.

Logically speaking if you don't suck and can actually promote worth a **** then you should be able to make up the lack of gate with added PPVs buys...duh.

Basically everyone's saying even though it is their ****ing job to grow boxing and get more eyes on boxing they are incompetent and incapable so **** that, we all have to wait until the pandemic is over. Impossible for ol squirrelly Bob to sell a considerable amount more in PPV and no one likes losing money so we all just wait. Nice.

And when you think about it, when was the last time a promo informed you about a god damn thing? When was the last time you saw a promo without going out of your way to be all up in the boxing sub-culture first?

Probably can't have gateless fights because promoters can't find casuals and they probably can't find casuals because they waste their god damn money planting articles on places like this rather than buying a god damn radio or TV spot.

You know how often a ****ty low budget local commercial comes on channels that are not in any way music related to tell me some band is coming to florida? That's like ****ing daily. You know how often I see a PPV promo for a fight on a channel that isn't a sports channel? Never, ****ing not once, maybe on YT and only because YT knows I'm all up in the sub-culture.

Boxers have proven they're greedy and that story they've been whining about forever about being underpaid is really them just being the greedy ****s they are.

Promoters are ****ing useless. People sign contracts with promoters to be allowed to fight their stables not actually get a worth a **** promotional package. Boxers get more famous off the backs of other famous boxers with little to no promotion to do **** but make those fights happen, and, that's why as a sport even though HW has some talent again boxing is stagnant as ****.

I don't actually give a **** there's a pandemic. The fact that these ****s would rather wait it out then adapt or accept less speaks volumes to how much money they don't need, when they don't need it, and how little importance a ****ing promoter is in 2020.

Dudes can just get on Youtube and sell more ****ing fights than Bob Arum's old **** ass does.

Will they be able to continue to make 140 by the time fans are able to attend?

I noticed there were zero fans at the new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Monday night! If they're going to do Wilder vs. Fury III without fans, might as well give us Ramirez vs. Taylor too!

Sadly there will be social restrictions for a long time to come. Bob's just as well getting it done in the New Year behind closed doors or we'll be waiting frickin ages for the green light allowing fans to return. Probably be a case of you can return to normal - do shti and go places - IF you've had the scamdemic vaccine. Taylor's still got to get past his Thai mando first anyway.

Fans are not breaking down gates and doors trying to get in to watch these fights. If and when they do have this fight with fans in attendance, the fans should all boycott the venue and just watch it at some local bar.

Difference there is that Wilder and Fury are not draws on their own. Taylor and Ramirez pack their houses with fans no matter who they're fighting. Feel old man Arum on this one. Ramirez/Taylor will have both their fanbases packing the house wherever this fight takes place.

There's probably 5-10 US boxers that can draw 10k. Ramirez is one of them.

nobody cares about this fight but us hardcore fans here in amerikkka. These guys aren't superstars lol. Who does Arum think these guys are? Both of these guys could be on NBC tomorrow with their belts prime time giving an interview and and no one would still know them.
