Greater fighter: Oscar De La Hoya or Thomas Hearns

Two multi-division champions. Both men fought legends and became legends themselves.

Who was the greater fighter? The Golden Boy of boxing, or the Motor City Cobra?

I remember reading this dream match up back in the late 90’s in KO magazine. Oscar was on top at the time and I was surprised to see the writer pick Oscar but he did state that he wouldn’t be surprised if Hearns took Oscar out first but given Oscars granit chin and left hook power he felt Oscar would get to Tommy before tommy would get to him.

It’s a 50/50 fight imo but I thought the writers prediction was pretty accurat of what could have happened.

Tommy! Tommy! Tommy! He was in that celestial realm with the others. Sure he was a little chinny but personally I doubt ODH could take Tommy's cannonball and I think he was a level below Tommy ability-wise.

As a fan who always hoped for a DLH loss, I learned not to underestimate him.

Hearns has the advantage in power and reach. But if he cant land that, there is always DLH left hook to KO him.

I take DLH by late KO ala Leonard.

I think Hearns at his best KOs Oscar at his best. Oscar had a good chin but not a granite chin like GGG and Canelo who have never been knock down in so many fights against big punchers. Duran had a great chin but that did not save him.

I'm definitely biased here but I rate ODLH higher than most and definitely higher here.

As great and legendary as Hearns was, ODLH gets my nod here.

Question wasn't who wins but who was the greater fighter

Hearns layed Duran out..... And should have got the W vs SRL in the rematch.

Plus I think Hearns would be too much for Oscar especially if it's middleweight
