Comments Thread For: Daniel Roman: I Gotta Look Good, Send a Message I'm Still The Champ

By Thomas Gerbasi - Daniel Roman hasn't been an ex-champion long enough for him to feel any different since losing his 122-pound belts to Murodjon Akhmadaliev via split decision in January, but what he does know is that there's nothing more important than getting them back. That quest to regain his place atop the junior featherweight division begins on September...

122 looks live and competitive without clear num 1, good potential match-ups, Akhmadaliev-Iwasa should be a war, Hovhannisyan and Aleem should fight each other for the title eliminator

What a fan wants to root for is a competitor like Roman! He said it better than I can. Old school is right. I agree he should have won that fight. To beat a champ that's what you need to do, beat them. Not, be gifted a split decision. Not against a champ! Roman outworked the Uzbek, defensively and offensively. Let's not talk about ballance and positioning (no comparison). A beautiful performance overshadowed by a fixed setup and goes down as a disapointment instead of a FOY contender.
