Comments Thread For: Derevyanchenko Vows To Apply Pressure Early, Start Faster on Charlo

Top contender Sergiy Derevyanchenko believes that his combination of skills and experience will make him the toughest challenge that WBC Middleweight Champion Jermall Charlo has faced in his career, as they near their showdown this Saturday, September 26 headlining part one of CHARLO DOUBLEHEADER, a SHOWTIME PPV event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

Derevyanchenko will apply early pressure on Charlo, which frustrates Charlo, he doesn't fight well going backwards. That said Derevyanchenko's face paid the price for his pressure tactics when he fouht Golovkin. His face was really beat up in that fight, he was in danger of the referee stopping the fight on cuts. If he starts getting cut in this fight with Charlo, he might suffer a TKO loss. Charlo is bigger, younger, and might be strong than Golovkin at this stage of his career. This doesn't look good for Derevyanchenko's chances to win, not in this fight. He may never win a title in his career, simply because he's a Vito Antuofermo type fighter, (Face First Fighter). I don't think his face will be able to hold up for the duration of this fight.

This is boxing, corruption doesn't stop at borders lol. All territories have the same bad reputation when it comes to bad decisions!

I've seen it from the UK, Germany, USA, Canada, France, Japan etc. That's just my observation over the last 20+ years.

Yes, I'm one of those people who think he beat GGG. Charlo better have upped his game or he's in for brutal evening!

Idk why that made me laugh. Guess cuz it was a "Duh" statement.

I had GGG winning too. But I have the feeling Charlo wins this fight but it won't be easy!

I agree with the earlier parts of your assessment. I disagree that Derev was in danger of having the fight stopped. I think if Derev starts faster he will only leave himself open to counters. As long as he can maintain his defense while pressuring then it should be a solid strategy.

I do not think he was implying that only in the USA is there corruption in boxing or sports. I think he was implying that Derev being the outsider was not going to get a decision win versus the home town fighter.

Germany is the WORST!! Andarde fought Jack Culcay over there and it was still a SD...

Euros in the USA have a hard time getting the wins in big fights.

                  Andre/Kov 1
Sergiy/GGG. GGG foreign but is will known in S. CALI and NYC. So he's treated like A-side.
