I think most of us knew Yuri was gonna be the guy while hoping for a more compelling opponent, but the internet thing is a whole tactic to keep your name in the mouth of fans. And Devin is better at that than most pro boxers today & it'll pay huge dividends to him eventually if he keeps winning fights.
What makes it even worse is he criticized tank for fighting gamboa but here he is fighting him coming off a knockout loss and injury. Atleast tank got him coming off a win.

I think similar opponents are good measuring sticks to hype up talk between high level guys or too boost a lesser guy who shined more than the more proven guy.

GRJ is most likely gonna do exactly what Team Devin just did. Talk with all these name guys & then next year sometime when he has his annual fight it'll be vs some middle world class type guy who might have some name value but not too much.

If he's lucky it'll be Tank assuming he beats LSC as expected cuz that's his best paying potential next fight.
True indeed! If Tank can make 130 with ease, I could see Tank vs. GRJ, and I look forward to it too! If LSC wins, I would look forward to that too! Anything besides Nyambayar rematch! Why do think Shakur didn't seek a fight with GRJ @ 126? Politics or Swerve?

A win over old washed up many times knocked out Gamboa means nothing and proves nothing today. A bad cherrypick for this big talking bragger just as he wash a cherry pick for Tank. He is an even worse cherry pick now because he is coming straight off a KO loss to Tank. If you are trying to show your worth as a champion you fight winners not guys who just got KOed yet again.

I'm a guy who believes when cross promotion fights happen it's an anomaly if it's anything besides a whatever fight or a decent number PPV or viewers fight. So I don't think there is much chance for GRJ vs Shakur or there was much chance for the Devin fight. I'd love to be wrong just don't think I am.

This is some weak ***** on the Haney team.. Gary Russell would have brought respect even if he's smaller. He's still world class and in his prime. This is chicken *****

Gamboa is my boy, but c'mon man.
Gamboa could have used a soft fight to comeback, hope he does well and doesn't get hurt.
Only good thing about a Gamboa fight is you know you will get some action and probably a KO.
Shame he went with 50 Cent, Gamboa was on his way to greatness and turned down a Brandon Rios fight, a fighter he would have mopped the floor with, not to mention the fight would have been a great action fight.

I do like Haney, there's some promise there...but I have to agree, getting overrated right now. Coming off a bad performance against Santiago and injury (an injury which may have been the result of bad habits in his technique - that's my view). Winging in hooks, throwing lead uppercuts from 5 feet away, IDK about all that

Gamboa isn't all that bad of a fight to me either - the problem is that he got handed a belt so the expectation in opponent is now different.

My dream would be GRJ vs. Shakur Stevenson on the Wilder vs. Fury III PPV, but neither have belts @ 130, so it won't happen, unless Shakur is willing to drop back to 126 for GRJ's title. I'd definitely pay to see that!
BX id like to see shorty vs Shakur myself. Eff Shakur dropping back to 26, all this sh** talking GRJ has been doing to the fellas in the upper weights, he should step his a$$ up to 130. Not to mention all the crap he talked about following Loma up where ever Loma goes, lets see him get wet up by Loma at 30. Loma said thats his natural weight. What say ya ?
