I missed this fight, but I did see a couple people saying this one would likely go some rounds due to Rice being durable/knowing how to survive.

As long as you view him properly, then there isn't a reason to be underwhelmed by his performance....to me, he's not a prospect, he is a project....the expectation should be different. It sounds like he really ****** last night but a project like this does need live rounds so maybe there is a silver lining?

I don't think he is a "dark horse" of the division or anything like that either - hell, I think he just avoided a HW dark horse in Frank Sanchez before he left the PBC. I think the Agagba project would have ended had that fight happened.

anyway, he's learning on the fly. He's clearly very stiff

and I post this every time I comment on Agagba because it's such a glaring flaw that stood out almost immediately... he lacks a natural reflex, he doesn't have a natural boxing instinct and doesn't "feel" when punches are incoming. Lack of vision, not much anticipation

I'm not expecting all that much, but mostly it's been pretty fun to watch...I'm just gonna watch and see how far they get with him.

Boxing fans are like spoilt ladies. You take em out to Dubai or the Ba***** every summer then you take them out to Alabama once they hate on you.

Ajagba and his new team did well. Now they can access and see where he needs to improve in his defence, movement and punches and work on whatever area he is short

It's amazing how quickly fans jump off the bandwagon of a prospect or up and comer once he stops flattening opponents.

It's part and parcel of a prospects learning curve to box the full 4, 6, 8, and 10 rounds - I didn't see the fight, but if Efe was in control for most of the fight, that was probably the game plan.

The guy didn't have much of an amateur career and this opponent was according to his stats, a guy Efe could spar with.

Having said that, I'm indifferent to Ajagba, not having seen enough of him. (he has Adalaide Byrd judging a few of his fights, so that can't hurt-the fact she's still judging is criminal)

Daniel Dubois is probably the hottest prospect right now, but my concern is the guy pushes his punches, what saves him are excellent fundamentals.

If Dubois could learn to create more snap, crackle and pop he would be an almost perfect fighter. His test is coming in the form of Joyce, so we'll see.

People are surprised that Ajagba isn't knocking out opponents of late but it shouldn't be a surprise considering he was fighting low level opponents and now that he has increased competition level slightly, he looks average. He has always looked stiff. He knocked out boxers early in his career because he was fighting opponents who were there to be hit and were scared of him getting in the ring.
He creates a bit of an illusion with his size and build. Show him a bit of movement, like the low ranked Rice did, and he's totally confused and stands there like he's waiting for a cab with his head in the air and no head or body movement. If he doesn't start improving his speed, footwork, head movement and defense, he's an accident waiting to happen.

As far as Dubois is concerned, he pushes his punches? Yeah right. He has one of the best jabs in the game, regardless of level. He has plenty of snap. He's obliterating people because he has proper punching technique, is accurate and has legitimate power. I think you're way off there. He is also improving every fight with his footwork. Put someone like Ajagba in with Dubois and he gets KO'd in the early rounds. The guy makes Joyce look like Speedy Gonzales.
