Unless he starts looking sh^tty or more beatable yea he's not wrong.

Boxing makes no damn sense from a competitive sport sense of logic & what's best for the sport.

      No doubt.

If having your 0 wasn't so overvalued these days there would always be some great prospect matchups to make. But as things stand it's almost a 0% chance those types of high level prospects fight before one has a belt & often they won't fight til both have gotten a belt.

I know, and it’s the promoters that hold them back more then the fighters themselves

That is for sure but some fighters need a fight like Ennis. Knock off the up and coming to position themselves into a bigger fight.

I like Ennis. He says the right things and understands that in order to ensure yourself a title these days is to land in a mandatory spot and enforce it when given the chance.

All that said I think it is in his best interest to not call out these top guys just yet. Ennis is still relatively young and these guys are still in their prime with experience over him.

There's no "might" about it! Especially if you stop Abreu tonight! Same could be said about Vergil Ortiz, and another one is Ismail Madrimov @ 154! Out of the 3, Vergil might have the easiest path!

The guy has 25 fights and fought only legitimate bums. Vergil Ortiz has like 16 and fought actual fighter’s already. And I think he just turned 20. This guy Ennis seems well on his way to fraud status with how protected he is.

I'll take the opposing side on him being a fraud. But I know some of you guys have extreme takes on what a fraud is including guys who become top 10 in the world being among them so judging that harshly you could end up being right by that kinda definition if his ceiling is #7 in the world or something like that.

I think like most pro boxers he had to earn his way more & is still earning his way cuz he didn't get picked up by a major promoter with a TV deal upon turning pro. When there is no TV money involved in your progression it's gonna go slower cuz no name guys at any level are gonna be running to fight you very quickly.

Either way we shall see how good he ends up being or not.

I didn’t say he’s a fraud, I said he’s on his way. Which was ironic considering your post. I’ve already posed the comparison of a guy in his division who has many less fights and is younger yet has moved along more confidently. I have nothing against the guy but obviously his team is scared for him, thus his last 3 opponents being 5’5/5’6 while BOOTS stands 5’10 and the superbums he’s been feasting on. This is his first decent step up. 25 damn fights in. Hopefully I’m wrong and his team grows some faith for his skills after this, and his career doesn’t just remain a hyper managed affair.

Either way. I think I’ve seen enough boxing to see that this guy wont be an elite. Not fast, not powerful and most importantly, lacks the physical strength to hang. Maybe he can be a Malignaggi/Vasquez/Mora type deal.
