Comments Thread For: Johnny Nelson Confident Whyte Would Have Benefited With Tibbs in Corner

Former WBO cruiserweight champion and Sky Sports pundit Johnny Nelson, believes veteran trainer Mark Tibbs would have been very useful had Dillian Whyte had him in the corner last month. Whyte had shockingly parted ways with Tibbs in the months leading up to clash with Alexander Povetkin

He'd have done better with #Terry Tibbs in his negotiations, that's for sure. TALK TO ME.

      I don’t think it would’ve made a difference.

Whyte has been knocked out before and gets dropped against pretty much every decent guy he faces, so it was inevitable he was going to get knocked out again at some point.

Regardless of who his trainer is, he isn’t that good. he is a tough game fighter that can beat a few fringe contenders but never going to beat real top fighters.

Him vs Povetkin is always a 50 50 type affair. I don't write off him landing a left hook and knocking Povetkins block off, either man can KO the other.

The problem for Dillian is he has terrible footwork and balance, so Povetkin is always going to be able to get into the distance where he likes to be to throw that left hand and compact shots. That’s why I said it made no difference who is in the corner, not that Whyte can’t win.

Dillian is going to run into the same problem in the rematch win or lose, because he hasn’t got the feet or ability to stop Povetkin really being where he likes to be, even if he is a faded fighter, which he is.

It’s not something he is going to rectify in a couple of months.

Dillian has a good reach, but his awful feet make it almost not count for much.

          Makes for interesting rematch. anyway.
