Is it just me or is Canelo a pretty bad "face of boxing"

I have to be honest, whilst he's a good fighter I don't get the popularity.

He LOST to the previous face of boxing, which is unusual.

    He doesn't speak English

He doesn't seem to have any kind of personality

He's fun to watch but not INCREDIBLY entertaining

    He's not a heavyweight

Most of his top wins are controversial and far from dominant

Im not saying he's a bad fighter but to me he's never been a MUST WATCH fighter, if I'm at home I'll watch him fight, but I'm not cancelling plans for a canelo fight the way I would have a prime Pacquiao or a Mike Tyson

Just popular due to a bunch of Mexicans buying tickets and PPV events.

He’s boring and has zero personality.

He never was...And never will be sadly.

When Cotto and GGG forced Canelo hand in negotiations when they fought that let me know he would never become the face of boxing and he isn't a "True A-Side"

He should be tho with all things considered.... On paper he is.... But he isn't.

Picture past faces of boxing getting btched in negotiations by washed up legends like Cotto or someone like GGG.

Or going through the BS he going through with DAZN.
It's like everytime he tries to flex his Aside power it backfires.

I think the way he came up fighting so many popular washed up fighters and arguably losing his step up fights (Lara GGG)
Caused him to not have a solid foundation to become Face of boxing.

Floyd and Manny took real fights b4 cherry picking and dominated. Canelo tried to copy Floyd but skipped building up a solid foundation first.

100 spot on! Get ready to get jumped by the Canelo fanboys.

Boxing is desperate to have a boxing star and they gave that title to Canelo after getting schooled by Mayweather. Canelo also hesitant to fight a Mexican fighter like Benevitez because if he loses or gets destroyed there goes his Mexican fanbase. Canelo is just a good fighter that loses every time he stepped up

Anyone I speak to when talking boxing here in Ireland doesn't really know Canelo or get the hype. We all think he's good, but not that good. He's never been a dominant champ and he completely lacks any public persona that people gravitate towards.

the thing about having a fanbase & people tuning in to see u, is then u get the decisions as it's all about the $$$ and it just progresses from there, these fans don't care if the fight is a robbery or controversial, once the hand is raised that's enough for them and it's on to the next one

canelo is very good and i like his fights but he's not better than everyone he's fought

The worst face of boxing in the history of the sport bar none. Worst footwork of a supposed top level outboxing genius I've ever seen too. Overrated plodder with no gas tank and **** all volume.

                    Can't green K you again.

I don't understand these new fighters thinking they are entitled to Floyd/Pac treatment.

They both fought tough ass fights before they got to where they can cherry pick and make that type of money.
