of course, as he should and with Oscar potentially out of the way it is very likely he would land Canelo which would be huge

Espinoza getting the Last Laugh at those who said Showtime would be out of Boxing by Now

Easily do a million buys ???
If Benavidez and Plant unify first Maybe.
Plant aside from having a belt doesn't do it for me.
Benavidez might draw more but a million ? I doubt it.

There are tampering laws that forbid even “only if” type of public speculation.
It’s common in these types of arenas. Now whether or not GBP would actually take action is a different story but there are libel laws that prohibit what Espinoza was saying.

That's false. They could have had Wilder-Ortiz, but Haymon would not guarantee they would also get Wilder-Fury 2 in taking the Ortiz rematch, which everyone said would bomb on PPV and it did.

Also, Fox placed a guarantee on the buys in terms of money, which is insane. I think it was 500K on Wilder-Ortiz 2 and 1 million buys on Wilder-Fury 2. They lost a lot of money with both of those gambles.

Libel? Libel laws have nothing to do with what he said.

He clearly says they would honor all contracts and Canelo is under contract elsewhere, but if he ever became available they would work hard to sign him up. Golden Boy has made similar comments about Wilder and other PBC fighters. Hearn has made similar comments about Charlos, Davis, etc.

No different than an NBA team owner being asked if he would pursue Lebron James if he became a free agent.

NBA teams are not allowed to discuss another player when they have a contract.
Magic Johnson got in trouble for talking about Paul George before he was a free agent and Doc Rivers did as well talking about Kawai last year.
And I meant to say liable for damages. There are 100% anti tampering regulations in place. I e negotiated some of these deals myself, although not on the scale of what Canelo is worth. Now would it be worth it for GBP to take action. Probably not unless Canelo said he wasn’t thinking of leaving until he saw Espinoza’s comments and got him thinking.

Canelo should be fighting on PPV.

Espinoza should focus on making another Canelo-level star from the large PBC stable.
This sport can't go on with just one star who only fights once a year.
