"Premier is decided at Dazn's sole discretion" - Mike Coppinger; Canelo/Dazn/GBP

    Full quote:
"I was told the language in the contract states that: "Premier is decided at Dazn's sole discretion."
He's talking about a "premier opponent." He said this on his podcast released today with BJS.

What's already out there is that Dazn feels they haven't got that opponent yet.

Your thoughts in regards to Canelo's case against Dazn/GBP?

I think I really only care about the fighters who won't be fighting right now. Just think DAZN needs to get something on their damn schedule, damn that looks bad.

Anyway, Smith, Saunders, Andrade, Golovkin and Jacobs need to be fighting each other now.

At this point anything on Dazn besides Ak and Barak or hearing Chris Mannix babble at the mouth is a win for me

Interesting as this conflicts a lot of the information in Canelo’s lawsuit.

Canelo’s legal team obviously feel that this isn’t case and DAZN don’t have sole discretion over the selection of and what defines a premier opponent.

Looks like Golden Boy didn't put that in their contract with Canelo so they may end up being solely responsible.

            DAZN is the employer.
            GBP is the employer.

            Canelo is an employee.

That should sum it up easily.

So no thoughts about if this hurts your projection of Canelo winning or losing in court?

He still signed the contract tho..
& I'm of the mindset it was done intentially. (GBP not putting it in the contract) But there's a possibility they didn't even know. Things worded a certain way can be very tricky in a court of law. Dazn has a separate contract from Canelo, not sure if it's the same ordeal with GBP.

That's probably why Oscar/GBP is being sued too.

I would think reasonable minds would be able to see how ludacris suggesting Khabib (0-0 in boxing) is a "premier" opponent than a actual undefeated top 3 in his division ranked boxer. But words on a contract matter so it's probably a uphill battle for Canelo.

Hopefully this whole deal just gets agreed to die & both sides can go their own way at this point. Likely a lot of bs & news stories before that point comes to be is my expectation unfortunately.

I think it's the perfect storm where everyone feels secure enough to not be fighting each other right now. GGG & Jacobs got value already & have their own good deals so they are just waiting on their eventual callback to the Canelo sweepstakes.

Callum & BJS are being mentioned more than anyone else as next opponents so while it'd be a plus to boost their name with a high profile fight the risk while they are being mentioned as the B side makes it a silly move.

And Andrade is really the only guy who's left out in the cold & there isn't anyone for him to fight. He's in the classic juice not worth the squeeze position. No one gains much for beating him & therefore no one who matters wants to fight him to help him up his own position.

And this is why I wish boxing was a dictatorship like most every other pro sport & there was just a guy or group acting in the best interest of boxing. Business-wise all the boxers mentioned are making the best move for their career, even Canelo with his lawsuit, but the reality of sport is usually just discovering who's the best at all levels at any given moment in time which boxing is awful at doing.

Seems to me that Saunders, Smith, Andrade and GGG are the premier opponent's and Golden Boy/Canelo have been low balling them all so the fights aren't getting done.
