Comments Thread For: Zepeda-Baranchyk Title Eliminator Confirmed For October 3 In Las Vegas

A second attempt to get Jose Zepeda and Ivan Baranchyk in the ring now serves as the tablesetter for an October to remember. The pair of junior welterweights are now officially set to collide on October 3, live on ESPN+ from the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The bout was formally announced on Tuesday by Top Rank, as part of a massive five-week stretch of events airing on ESPN platforms.

I think this will be one helluva fight. Nice matchup of styles and between two fighters who are just a notch below the elite of the division ( although who could take a W against the elite if they aren't prepared).

Zepeda seems his best (and most entertaining) when the opponent comes forward and I imagine Baranchyk will be doing that all night. Not sure if The Beast will be too relentless and physical for Zepeda or if Chon will be able to stymie him with his movement, jab and clean counters. Can't wait to find out.

Been excited for this one from when it was originally announced, gutted when Ivan picked up his injury. One of those style matches that's basically guaranteed to deliver.

And just as added bonus it's landed on my Birthday... although I gotta admit there's a high likelihood I won't make it to 4 or 5am UK time...

Happy birthday in advance! Who do you think is going to win? This is an incredibly difficult fight for me to predict. If I had to pick, I'd say Baranchyk picks up the win by close decision. But I wouldn't be surprised if Zepeda can box him and win by a few rounds.

Definitely must see TV! I hope PBC gives us Prograis vs. Ergashev soon! Lots of great fights to be made at 140!

Ha, well I certainly wouldn't be putting any real money on it, but for the purposes of the PICK EM I'll most likely be going with Baranchyk, close... depending how they look at weigh in and stuff.

Reckon Ivan is probably gonna be eating jabs and will get countered plenty but his persistence and aggression can edge it, can also see Jose dropped at some point.

... Watching Baranchyk vs Ramos right now though, and I'm already wondering about changing my pick, Ivan's a tuff mfer but he gets hit... a lot. Can seriously see it going either way, Zapeda's pretty crafty and Baranchyk's fairly one dimensional for all his strength.

Taylor-Ramirez unification fight puts the division up on hold, stalling careers, should be made asap. Make 140 great again!
