Comments Thread For: WBO Says Jamel Herring Needs to Face His Mandatory by January 2021

Jamel Herring overcame a bad injury to retain his WBO championship title against Jonathan Oquendo this past Saturday night in Las Vegas. The 130-pound titlist suffered a bad cut on his right eyebrow from the head of his Puerto Rican opponent in round five, a move that referee Tony Weeks ruled as an intentional foul.

Stevenson is gonna beat Herring's ass and then Frampton's.

Another easy opponent for Shakur why doesn't he fight Joesph Diaz or Belchert ?

When he does get that WBO belt which he will you will see Diaz and Berchelt act like a 50/50 split not good enough even though neither is a star, puts butts in seats, or command large paydays. Hopefully you recognize it as the duck that it is.

As much as I’d like to see Frampton win a 3rd title, Bob should just make Herring-Stevenson next.

Would love to see Stevenson meet the winner of Berchelt-Valdez down the line as well.

The WBO wouldn't order any mandos without Bob Arum's blessing.

So this tells me that Arum wants Herring out and Shakur Stevenson to hold the strap.

Shakur has said he doesn’t want to fight Herring unless it’s his only option, so I see Shakur stepping aside to let Herring fight Frampton.

He’ll get winner or if Herring wins, he’ll likely retire & Shakur will fight for the vacant belt against Sharp or Nova.

EDIT: Just looked at the rankings, Shakur vs WBO #3 Jeremiah Nakathila for the vacant WBO sounds like a Top Rank on ESPN+ special.
