Comments Thread For: Sergey Kovalev Accuser Drops Settlement Lawsuit; Criminal Case Ongoing

Sergey Kovalev appears to have one less legal wrangle to worry about. The former light heavyweight titleholder is no longer the subject of a breach-of-contract lawsuit filed in January by Jamie Frontz, the woman who accused him of beating her in June 2018 after rebuffing his "romantic advances," after she dropped the suit on her own accord. Frontz had sued Kovalev in January for allegedly failing to honor the terms of their settlement, which called for the Russian to pay Frontz $650,000, over a period of time, in three installments.

He was reportedly arrested on a DUI charge in Los Angeles in February.
Didn't know that. He's going through the Kelly Pavlik post-prime spiral.

These charges were all brought on him by Team Canelo. They threatened to sabotage him with legal issues if he didn't agree to take a dive versus Canelo.

They were going to have a difficult time winning. The accuser is certifiably crazy. Which is not to say I don’t believe there wasn’t some truth there.

They dropped the breach of contract not the settlement which he still must pay and he still has to go through the criminal proceedings. There is nothing here to win or lose except more money when he must abide by the installment agreement and time in prison if found guilty criminally.

                  Took a dive?
Man I’m a massive kovalev fan but he got tired, he got caught and he got knocked out.

He fought very timidly. His confidence wasn’t what it has been. Seemed a bit gun shy imo.

I would’ve liked to have seen him have a decent rest after the yarde fight which was physically gruelling and he got hurt in that fight.

Oh well. It is what it is.
