To me he is pound for pound number one. Was he probably an abusive husband and father? I’m pretty sure he was. But we also have to grade him on the times. There are savage stories about a lot of great men at the time. Unfortunately, societal norms weren’t as developed as they are now. Not an excuse, just reality. He was still a one of a kind superstar.

Gotta say I agree. Sugar Ray was on point. I loved that era. Everybody used to leave the house looking like they were on a straight business appointment.

On looks alone he could have been a movie star.

Robinson is definitly up there but De la Hoya in his hey day was pulling in more females to boxing than any fighter in the history of the sport I don’t give a damn how Oscar ended up post boxing career(they all end up out of it a bit poor SRR was left beat up and with nothing).

But Oscar in his day was GQ and sharper than any fighter in the history of the sport.

That’s where you’re wrong. He was...

What’s Ray Charles name? Ray Charles Robinson. He couldn’t use Ray Robinson because of how big Sugar Ray was (Walker Smith, Jr.).

What’s Ray Leonard’s middle name? Charles. Mother named him after Ray Charles.

Interesting historical events all because Walkers coach decided he was Ray Robinson that night.
