Boxing in schools is the only way to save the sport

Let’s be honest. There’s no drama in boxing because it’s so easy to pick the fight 99% of the time.

Two guys are fighting and one of them has been boxing since he was six years old. He won multiple amateur championships and world titles.

The other guy... not so much.

If that fight was scheduled for 2020, it was determined back when that one boxer was about six years old.... years and years and years ago.

There is no way for fighter B to match that muscle memory. One fighter is going to win every exchange.

Fighter B then decides if he’s going to go for the win and get destroyed and embarrassed or if he’ll eat a jab for 12 rounds.

    BORING.

So how do we fix this?

We can talk all we want about getting better matchups. But guess what? It won’t happen because have promoters have decided it doesn’t matter.

So how do we fix it?

The United States needs to have a boxing implemented in schools, like it is with baseball, basketball and football.

That’s the only way to shrink the talent gap and make more competitive fights.

Unfortunately it’ll never happen and we’ll continue to have a boring product.

I don’t know why football is okay for a 14 year old and boxing isn’t according to the world but it is what it is.

Funny people think it's too dangerous but put their kids in football like you say or debatably even worse up here... hockey. Where fighting is accepted and even sometimes encouraged but the ground is as hard as concrete and of course you've got the boards to get smashed into also.

That’s a great point about hockey, another sport that’s totally accepted by the NCAA.

        I guess that's a city thing?

We had boxing in the eighth grade in homestead elementary in the 90s. Yes, 8th and yes, elementary. We did not have a middle school.

Vaughn Davis was the name of the coach, I have no clue his credentials.

edit - Oh, I'm talking about crossville tennessee
