Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis: Santa Cruz Throws More Than Me, But I Come To Hit Hard

Gervonta "Tank" Davis knows that he will have to use brute strength to bulldoze his way through Leo Santa Cruz when the two meet Oct. 24 on Showtime pay per view. Santa Cruz (37-1-1, 19 KOs) has consistently displayed one of the highest punch outputs in the sport year-over-year, and Davis (23-0, 22 KOs) recognizes that in order to remain undefeated, he might need to reach back into his well-regarded bag of knockout tricks.

Tank says that LSC has been in with guys who have power but has he really? I can't think of any fearsome or noteworthy puncher that Santa Cruz has faced.

Leo will come with more punch output than Tank but I don't think he throws the same volume he did early in his career.

Unless Tank comes in woefully unprepared and unmotivated (which is a possibility), I don't see how Leo can win.

Nobody is giving Leo a snowballs chance in hell but if Tank isn't disciplined and properly prepared, like in his last fight against Gamboa, he could very well get outboxed. Old, faded Gamboa with a torn achilles went 11 rounds! Do you think an old Gamboa with an injury from round 2 on is better than Santa Cruz in his prime? I certainly don't. Davis assumes he's going to demolish Santa Cruz and he may be in for a surprise. Davis has better speed and movement than Gamboa at his age so anything is possible. It all depends on Tank's preparation.

I agree 100%. It really depends on if Tank prepares for this fight like a professional. However, I could also see an out of shape Tank get outboxed for a while and still ultimately catch LSC and put him to sleep. I could be mistaken, but Leo hasn't really faced a legitimate puncher and certainly not one the size of Tank.

Floyd trying to have Tank follow his blue print to a tee lol. Fight a fan favorite popular Mexican with little to no chance of winning, put it on PPV because the Mexicans will buy with the hope of seeing you lose. Win the fight, find another Popular low risk high reward Mexican/Hispanic fighter rinse and repeat

Yea Gamboa survived rounds. But he didn’t win any. I personally don’t think Davis has to be 100 % to win this fight. This is Tanks fight to lose, but he’d have to give it away IMO. I do think it’ll be entertaining, and competitive for however long it lasts, but the outcome will be a clear win for GTD.

I hope it's not too late for this guy, I feel like he's a good guy underneath all this and he has a style the sport has been kind of missing for a while. It's always drama with him so it's good for boxing. I hope he gives a good account of himself in the future.
