Who do you think would have been Floyd's hardest opponent that he didn't fight

No being ****** like saying Wladamir Klitschko, but someone who was in or around his weight class.

It can be someone he did fight, but at a different time, (Pacquiao in 2010) or it could be someone he never fought (margarito in 2008)

Paul Williams would have been interesting.

I think Margarito and Paul Williams at 147 would have been tough fights for Floyd. His fans downplay those matchups consistently, but those would have been real fights.

If you think about it, Floyd rarely fought fighters taller and longer than him. Margarito's size and style would have given Floyd a hard night's work even if Floyd ended up winning every round. Paul Williams would have been an outstanding win for Floyd at 147, but that's in retrospect. At the time people truly viewed Paul Williams as a stylistic nightmare for Floyd.

There was a lot of demand for Floyd to fight Margarito at a certain point, but Floyd went on to fight Baldomir for the WBC title for a dollar more than what Arum offered for the Margarito fight. Additionally, Floyd had just left Top Rank and was not interested in working with Arum anymore.

Mayweather was actually more eroded as a fighter than Pacquiao by the time they fought 'Mayweather would of stopped Pacquiao in 2010-2012' Mayweather was too strong physically, probably has better punch resistance 'Mayweather looked way weaker when they finally fought etc.

I would say a earlier version of Miguel Cotto, and Paul Williams are tough fights 'But you can still clearly see Mayweather winning'.

Note: Oscar De La Hoya II would of be also a tough fight, extremely tough fight.

Williams was at his best with more stationary targets due to his high punch volume. When put against movers like Quintana and Lara, he struggled pretty bad. Granted he avenged his loss to Quintana in great fashion but the blueprint to beating him had already been discovered with that loss.

I don't think Mayweather vs Williams would have ever been the fight many people envision to see. It would have just been one guy boxing around and another not being able to get his punches off and resetting a lot due to this high punch volume style being nulled by a quick moving target.

I will second Vernon Forrest. Although his career is so weird because he somehow managed to lose to Ricardo Mayorga twice and also lost to Mora. It's a fight that intrigues me for sure, but I just don't know what to think of Forrest due to who he lost to. Losses by themselves don't mean anything, but who you lost to can make things look a bit bizarre.

The opponents that would have given him a case for being a higher AT G than he is.

TBH I don’t know. Floyd was so skilled I don’t see any of these dudes beating him. Floyd was always in tip top shape so I don’t see Margarito in 07 being much of a problem.
People always tried to say the pressure fighter would give Floyd problems, that was proven true late in his career ala Maidana. But not in his prime when people were trying to make the case for it. Forest would’ve given Floyd some trouble stylistically but was he really a viable opponent? I was still in the army when he fought Mayorga. And Floyd was fighting Sosa at LW around that time.
