  • Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Not Bothered By Delay in Facing Kubrat Pulev

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are destined to meet for a super fight in the not too distant future. Both sides have already agreed to a deal, but in the meantime, both fighters have unfinished business - Joshua with Kubrat Pulev and Fury with his trilogy against Deontay Wilder on a yet to be finalized date.

Usyk is next in the mandatory rotation. And it doesn't sound like he's going to step aside.

Usyk will do what he's told.

He's the WBO mandatory, do you know what that stands for?

      Warren boxing organisation

That's right, because Frank Warren is besties with the Wbo.

If Wazza wants the WBO on the line in AJ vs Fury, then he will get it.

Nobody actually cares about Usyk, aside from about 20 people online, he hasn't got a fanbase, he's not a draw, he doesn't bring any money. So if he has to wait another 6 months for his shot, so we can get the biggest fight in boxing in, then that's what he will do. Then he can get stood on his head by Fury and realize he had no business in the ring with "six foot nine, two hundred and eighty pounds, of inside fighting-ness"

Sick and tired of these delays, Fury and Joshua have cleaned out the division, we can't be delaying this fight for newcomers from here there and everywhere

Well kind of, but only if you considered Whyte a top guy in the first place, which I certainly never have.

I don't begrudge Povetkin getting an eventual last payday mind you, just not until after the BIG one.

Warren seems to have lost relevance ages ago - it’s Arum running that Top Rank/Queensbury tie up.

So I’m taking it you’re happy with boxing being turned into a popularity contest, whereby only popular fighters are given title shots? I’m sure as hell glad Klitschko didn’t take this approach and gave Fury his shot despite him having very little fan base at the time, so much so that Fury promised never to fight in the UK again because he was “under-appreciated”.

Turns out that Fury has already said he won’t be fighting Usyk before he retires regardless because he’s a “no-name foreigner”, so let’s just hope for boxing’s sake that we get an undisputed champ who is happy to take on all-comers and restore order to the heavyweight division.

If Wlad had fought Fury when there was a second world champion who had wanted to fight him then yeah id have had an issue with it and actually it would have been seen as a duck. But there wasn't.

              Usyk can get destroyed

AFTER the real business is handled.

Boxing has been a popularity contest since promoters started running the game. How can you have so many undefeated champs in the same division without them never meeting in the ring or fighting the same competition?

I like Usyk and I agree with Fury. Usyk is a no-name fighter in the HW division. I do not care much what Usyk did in his previous division. Moving up to HW is nowhere near the same as moving up from MW to SMW. Until Usyk proves himself with a real HW contender we can rightfully claim that he is a no-name in the division. 10 lb different is one thing, 60 lb different is another world.

Usyk spars with HW, including Klitschko. He also seems pretty level-headed guy not poisoned by a deluded belief in own omnipotence. If he is aiming at the big boys at HW, I'd give him a benefit of a doubt. He might lose - undoubtedly, laws of physics are unavoidable, but I wouldn't be overly dismissive of his chances. Its ok to be agnostic about something, you know. Not everything requires a label of our judgment.

Are you accusing me of being overly dismissive of his chances? I already admitted to saying I like him. Let me clarify, I am not *******ual and I do not find him attractive nor am I to him. What I meant when I said I like him is I think he is a good boxer. He has what it takes to be great at HW except for the natural size. The top 2 HW today are easily 50 pounds heavier than what Usyk is used to. They are not slow and fat either, both AJ and Fury can move quick and have heavy hands.

When you move up in weight at a lower division the change is a small % of weight, from 130 - 135, 5 pounds. From Cruiser 200 max to HW unlimited you have Usyk 215 and AJ or Fury who both tip in over 250 easy. That is a huge difference from what he is used to at Cruiser.

Fury is not wrong either. Until Usyk proves himself against real competition he is nothing at HW.
