Why did Floyd get bullied by Maidana

Not bullied, but Maidana was not just Floyd's usual slow, Latin fighter. They picked him thinking it was easy work, they must not have factored in Robert Garcia, Maidana had improved in every fight.
Floyd definitely thought in was going to be another Gatti fight, but I remember the -1000 odds and because I loved Maidana fights I knew the odds were way off, Maidana fights too good to be that big a dog.
Didn't score the fight as I watched, but thought Maidana won, at worst it was a draw.
I just wish he could have used his gloves, Floyd gave him $1.5 for a reason, those were the same gloves against Broner.Comment

dude, stop that bullshlt
what you said, may apply to someone else... but not to me
there is NO fanboy here... NONE
that post was 100% real... too real for you apparently
Maidana was a 100% cherry-pick simply because there were better opponents available
NOBODY suggested that Maidana was a suitable opponent for Mayweather until AFTER he beat Broner... and only the casuals were raving about that fight, hardcores knew better
I was disappointed with that selection back in the day, so why on earth would I change my opinion?
no fanboy here dude... can you really not tell the difference?
pretty dumb topic man
most new users wait a few months before they start posting dumb shlt... good on you for having the balls to jump straight in
I can clear up the confusion...
1) Maidana was a blatant cherry-pick... he never qualified for the Mayweather fight, as there were plenty of better options available... he would have been ridiculed as a Mayweather opponent before Broner
Maidana literally landed the Mayweather fight because Broner was over-rated
2) Mayweather heard the " boring " criticism from fans
Maidana was selected because Team Mayweather saw Maidana as a plodder who would be easy to outclass... they saw Maidana get thoroughly exposed by Devon Alexander, and they knew that Broner was not a real welter...
... they viewed Maidana as Floyd's... " Gatti at 147 "
Maidana was a hand-picked showcase opponent (read: plodder)
he was specifically selected to enable Floyd to showcase all of his skills against a limited/static opponent
WHICH IS WHY MAYWEATHER FOUGHT HIM FLAT-FOOTED
just like he fought Cotto flat-footed
what happened in the rematch... ?
Mayweather boxed on his toes, and schooled Maidana... in a less-exciting fight
don't believe me? ... go watch Mayweathers feet in both of those fights, the difference is clear
so the answer to your question is...
Maidana was able to perform much better than expected because...
1) Team Mayweather took him lightly, and their gameplan to played into Maidana's strengths
2) Maidana was all business... he fought a great gameplan, with lots of pressure and unorthodox punches... and he stayed there, right to the end
when fans (lets face it... horrible casuals, mostly pac-tards) started screaming for a rematch... I was screaming nooooo... because I could see exactly what was going to happen, and thought that it was beyond ****** for casuals to hand Mayweather justification for another cherry-pick...
we missed out on 2x BETTER fights
hope that cleared up the sillyness, sorry if it fcuked your thread

Maidana still wore punchers gloves in that fight
if gloves REALLY are the difference between winning and losing... then there is obviously something wrong with the glovesComment

I hear ya on that glove thing.Another idiot thats never boxed before, there is no such thing as pillow gloves in a professional boxing match, they all hurt and they can all knock you out.
The punchers glove is glove marketing, statistics dont show an advantage, the fighters pick gloves on how they feel on your hands.
Floyd had fought lots of guys in the very same glove Maidana wanted Cotto wore them and I think maybe Mosley, the bottom line is the glove is a psychological thing as well as a nice fit, if there was a clear advantage to any glove they were all be wearing them.
Maidana came away from the fight saying he now knows why Floyd was the best fighter in the world.
But tell me this, if that’s the case why did Mayweather throw such a fit for him to not wear those gloves and why did he pay him so much money to ensure he didn’t wear those “punchers” gloves?Comment

Because they tried some BS to cheat him and revenge brought the boss out, and he got into their head, welcome to the biggest arena in the world. Floyd has been the B side and when he hit the A side he enforced it, the forfeit is chump change for him, lets just say it was the price of ego, he spends that on shoes.Comment

What BS did they try to pull. They wanted a specific punchers glove that the commission approved and mayweather threw a bítch fit about it and maidana wasn’t having it until Mayweather sweetened his pot with a couple extra millions.Because they tried some BS to cheat him and revenge brought the boss out, and he got into their head, welcome to the biggest arena in the world. But for whatever reason Floyd was very very very hesitant on letting maidana wear his commission approved glove.Comment

From a boxers point of view loaded gloves is vile, Floyd said fck you, go and find how many opponents Floyd allowed to use those gloves, they better fighters than Maidana.
Does that not tell you its not the perceived fear factor that only young people can apply to an ATG fighter, its madness the angle fans will hone in on, Floyd could beat Maidana in any glove, no wonder hype is worth so much money with so many easily led people.
No ATG boxer fears any boxer his size, its just not a mindset these guys have, they get excited, they get focus, they get a calculated game plan and they respect the ability of their opponents, fear for a fighter of this level is like saying a master craftsmen is scared to build his house, its all fan BS because they project their feelings and perspective onto them.Comment
