If a Unification bout happens between two of the current champs...

Is it safe to say that Americans were the problem?

No, the promoters. Maskaev's promoter only has Maskaev and Klitschko is self-promoted by his own company K2.

At one point Don King had three of the champs, Byrd, Ruiz, Brewster for decent amount of time, nd he was even able to get all four when Rahman won the title.

At no time did King push for unification, or a tourney or tried to match any of his champs against each other. Instead he made Golota fight 3 of them, and threw the rest in bouts with other fighters that he had under contract.

not sure about that...but if you want to put some blame on American promoters...maybe...there are too many here and there's to place blame on just one

the fact that there is no American holding one of the 4 major titles makes the HW division that much more exciting...AND if these guys begin to unify, that would be great...to find the next American HW to regain the throne

Here's a question... what would you think if one of two "weakest" titlists unified with the other "lesser" titlist?

By this I'm basically judging Wlad as the best and having the physical gifts to deal with the others... though I don't rate Valuev highly as a boxer, he has distinct physical advantages and so must be considered to be higher than the other two.

But what if Maskaev-Liakovich squared off and - not impossible - Maskaev was the winner? Would be regard Maskaev as The Man? (Obviously The Ring wouldn't as they have to go through Wlad just to get No.1 position).

Techniclly speaking, Maskaev is the man, even though he isnt the best HW out there.

no one is THE MAN until they either beat the mean OR until they prove themselves better than the other "MEN" with trinkets...

                in my eyes...

                  How is that?

Simply because Vitali vacated the WBC belt and gave it to Rahman....didin't mean Rahman was "The Man".

If anything I think Oleg is about last in line among the title holders. Valuev clearly being the second best.

whoever holds 2 of the 4 belts first is the man as far as I'm concerned because they were man enough to step up and make it happen. I think it's hilarious how Wlad suddenly wants to unify now that Rahman is gone.
