What is "prime age" in boxing now

20 years ago I'd have said 27-30 would have been average prime age

But I think it's gotten older now and it's more like 29-33

Prime is 27-30 for all divisions south of 147. Although it's more like 25-30.

29-33 for all divisions north of 147.

    HW's prime is around 31-36.

Course it varies and fighting prime - the combination of a prime physique with the experience and ringcraft to use it to the full potential - doesn't always coincide with when the opportunities come, but as a rule of thumb I say 28 - 32 at the medial weights say 154 - 168, gets a bit younger in the smaller guys who are more dependent on the reflexes and a bit older in the higher weighclasses (upto mid-late 30s for some heavyweights).

Depends on fighters. Between 23 and 32 years old on average.

              It differs by individual.

We now know your birth age does not correlate with your bodies age. In short, your birth date is meaningless. It really is.

And the obsession this forum has with "prime" is hilarious.

If your best argument when it comes to fight outcomes is "who is prime" then you DKSAB. Just the way it is. No one with actual acumen and understanding of the sport, makes such lazy and tired cookie cutter "analysis".

People need to just stop obsessing over age and prime and learn a thing or two about actual boxing.

                Yep sure is.

Nevermind that fighter being in his 40's. Even though he lost to a 27 year old that does not matter, because the fighter in his 40's was in his prime.
