Ellerbe: "Mayweather-Baldomir Done Deal"

Baldomir-Mayweather means one thing to me : legitamacy. Legitamacy at the Welterweight division for Floyd. He has been moving up in weight quickly and needs to solidify his hold at 147. Beating Baldomir and winning his linear championship does that. It shows that Floyd did something at 147. You can criticize Zab Judah for losing to someone you see as less skilled- but Floyd is fighting the champion. He does not control who that is.

Once Floyd becomes the man at 147, as Baldomir is now, and after the Oscar fight I think Mayweather would have a duty to defend his title against the biggest threat in the division- Margarito. If Margarito is the #1 ranked fighter at Welterweight with Floyd as the champ- THEN I completely agree the fight needs to happen. If it doesn't Floyd truly would be ducking Antonio. Anyone agree?

I think it will be a good fight,better than fighting Spinx.
Floyd may have to go back to hit and run in this one but if he doesnt it will be a great fight. For those comparing Gatti to Baldo your wrong.Baldo isnt afraid of getting hit and he has shown his chin is a lot better than Gatti.All Baldo brings is tons of expierience,will to win and rock hard chin.Should be a good one IMO. Im a lot more pleased with Floyds choice right now,but if wants to be called the man at 147 he has got to defend the belts a couple of times.Just beating Baldo isnt gonna get him historic recognition at 147.

kudos to Baldomir. It's not everyday you see a guy take three tough fights in a row. Judah (Baldo underdog) , Gatti ( Baldo underdog ) now Floyd. I'm gonna pick the underdog once again as I like upsets.
