He won't vacate any belts, but he just took the WBC belt from Porter, now fighting Garcia, so I'm sure the IBF will make him fight the winner of the eliminator! I do think Spence will be @ 154 by Fall 2021!

Porter will become Mandatory, how long it takes to enforce the mandatory nobody knows. Some sanctioning bodies will hold out for multiple years.

If they don't make Porter mandatory he should audition for the next 007 flick.

I ask because Spence is getting the same treatment like what happened to Thurman 3 yrs ago.

It's weird how Thurman's injuries took a toll just after unifying two belts. And Spence got into an accident just after unifying two belts.

The winner of the IBF Interim fight, Lipinets vs Kudratillo, is getting Spence unless he unifies with Pacquiao or Crawford! The IBF does not play games! They would strip him!

I'm sure Spence would rather unify with Pacquiao or Crawford! Way more $$$. However, those fights need gate money, especially Crawford b/c ESPN is involved!

I really dont wanna see either one of those fights again. There is some appeal to a Spence rematch cause it was a good fight but the DSG fight will be the exact same fight as the first one.

If Shawn Porter was really interested in fighting for a belt, he would've fought Crawford, instead of fighting a nobody, then waiting in line hoping to become a mandatory. Whoever wins in November will be looking for Manny, then Bud. Good luck, Shawn Porter...

I think the IBF will make him do this:

Now if a Crawford or Pacquiao deal could get done, then he does that! Shawn is not a Champion!

Makes sense. I was confused by the first part of the article that says

"Now that Shawn Porter has beaten Sebastian Formella in their IBF/WBC elimination match, the former IBF and WBC welterweight champion can’t see any reason he shouldn’t become the mandatory challenger for the winner of the upcoming Errol Spence Jr.-Danny Garcia fight."

What exactly was eliminated in that fight?

Nah. The belt orgs have a system for these things. When one mandatory from another org is due, the other orgs won't strip the fighter for fighting his mandatory.

He won't be stripped if he unifies either. He just has to follow the protocol and notify the IBF in time.

Spence won't vacate any belts unless he is moving up to 154.

Spence wants all the smoke.

I do think though if neither the Crawford or the Manny Pac is guaranteed after he beats Garcia, he might just move up.

Making weight has already been hard enough for him. He'll have no motivation to continue to put himself through that if those fights are not guaranteed to him.

I said this before and I am saying it now. Neither of the winners are going to fight Shawn Porter again. Whether it be Danny Garcia or Errol Spence, Jr.

I can guarantee it. There's no upside in fighting Porter for a second time. They would have nothing to gain from it but everything to lose. Is too high risk and low reward.

If Shawn was the WBO or WBA welterweight titleholder, then they would gladly fight him again because they would have something to gain but he's not.

Besides, rumors are swirling that this would be "Swift's final bout at 147 against Spence anyhow. He plans on moving up to 154.

Swift lost once already to Porter. Plenty to gain there.

Porter/Formella was eliminator for #1 contender on both the IBF and WBC sides. Which means #1 contender for Spence, basically.

Porter was already up there, because he was recent champion on both.

Formella was put up there because he was undefeated and (is) a world title holder.

Swift was already booked to fight Spence and Manny is trapped, which only leaves Porter.

Porter is still top 5 guy in division. Whoever wants to be a true champ, will have to face him ( again).
