    Special olympic boxing

Ive been reading a lot up on what some people have been saying about the idea of special olympic boxing... to me being disabled and having a passion for the sport I am not amused. Things like this are what is wrong with the world today. To the people who think we just drool on ourselves and just go out swinging at the wind, some of us who are disabled would appreciate support on this topic rather than be mocked because while you sit thinking your tough behind your computers and telephones i can almost bet that the people like me and Im sure very many others would love a chance to get in the ring to prove ourselves worthy. Sounds to me like people are scared of what would happen to us as individuals. When we as human beings should have this right just like anyone else. If your scared go to church cause Im not. This would be a great opportunity for us. To see the things you have been saying about us as people Ali would be turning in is grave. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
    Good Day!!

100% my friend. Anyone who has the will to fight and can do so within reasonable bounds of safety should absolutely be allowed to do so and encouraged if that is their will. I'm saddened to hear you - or others - have apparently had negative comments aimed your way becasuse of it.

Is fencing in the special olympics? I've always put amateur boxing and fencing on a similar level.

it seems like it would be difficult to line up disabilities to make a fair fight

I read an article about cheating in swimming Special Olympics, where nearly everyone regularly fakes their disabilities when they are tested to seem worse than they are to get an advantage. With swimming, people lose out on medals & sponsorships, but there aren't brain cells being lost like there would be in boxing someone who's not nearly as disabled.

The sport fencing, is a protected sword fight, just as the sport amateur boxing is protected pugilism.

                No.
Could make their conditions worse or kill them.

                  know your limits

yes. but are we not allowed even being disabled to make these choices for ourselves? (at least those of us who can). Or as "human beings" are the disabled not as free in this world? Is the World of Boxing to good for us? We are already ****** to our disabilities... so why make us feel even more so by not providing us with a chance? ive thought hard about this and being an epileptic i refuse to be mocked when i know in my heart we as people deserve a FIGHTING chance!!
                  Thank you!!

P.S. WE know our conditions could get worse but what if the love of the game makes them go away? and thats OUR choice. and we are never promised tomorrow so let us live how we want to live even if that means getting our skulls smashed in.
