Why is Canelo fighting bums and hadbeens?

Fight Bivol, joe smith, or someone who is actually good. Don’t keep fighting old drunks like Kovalev and bums we don’t even know.

When you have a $300m contract, why not just coast from there?

It’s not going to affect anything. Most people felt he lost twice to GGG but still gets hailed as the man in boxing and gets huge contracts. So might as well just take the easy route now and pick up the money if you can get away with it.

He is a very good fighter nd a huge star. He can fight any opponent he wants to fight. He fights guys he is sure he can beat and does not fight guys he thinks might beat him. Don't expect him to fight Bivol, Beterbiev or Benavidez anytime soon because they are too good.
His next fight is likely against a little known guy who is not very good at the top level for the vacant title Benavidez lost by missing weight.

Because its boxing, and this is the type of stuff that is killing it.

I think most people would take an easier job for the same amount of money as a harder one. Human Nature.

            Not sporting, but practical.

They don`t like tough fights, they like hype jobs fighting bums.

This is the problem with the huge DAZN contracts.

                  1. There's no incentive for Canelo, ggg, AJ to fight the tough fights. The money's the same.

                  2. If they are willing to fight tough fights, one of three things must happen. Either the star (Canelo, ggg, AJ) has to take a pay cut (not likely), or the opponent has be low balled or DAZN has to go beyond their budget.

Because the other ranked fighters declined they price themselves out
