Comments Thread For: Povetkin: Uppercut That Blasted Whyte Was Best Punch of Career

A massive shocker on Saturday night at Matchroom's Fight Camp in Brentwood, as Dillian Whyte's hopes of landing a mandatory shot at the WBC championship were halted as he suffered a brutal knockout at the hands of Alexander Povetkin.

Didn't see it as a 'massive shock' at all. Whyte is still learning on the job and will come again via the contracted rematch clause.

What I saw was a flash of brilliance from a technically superior boxer with faster hands. Povetkins execution of such a well-drilled shot deserved to finish the show.

As for Whyte, those first 4 rounds were as good as any I've seen from him before. The big dose of reality served up in the 5th is a stark reminder for him moving forward.

Bad chin? How many HWs could have taken that shot and gotten up? Probably none.

I doubt we'll see a better KO all year.

Whyte walked right into Povetkin's trap, beautiful stuff.

Dillian will still be a contender he just got hit with a perfect shot from a good puncher he is chinny but it's the heavyweight division and he has power too so he could still make for some interesting match ups I don't think he will ever become a full fledged champion but he can make for some good fights with guys like Breazeale, Martin, Kownacki, Michael Hunter, Wallin, etc. just dont think he deserves an immediate rematch nobody should especially when getting slept like that I thought the group of Africans with the coffin were about to run into the ring and start dancing.

Everyone is talking **** on him and rightfully so haha but he does still hold some decent wins roided out or not most your favorites are too at this point so it is what it is I'll still watch him fight just hope he humbles himself a bit and stops talking so much trash when he is obviously very limited.

I might remember wrong but i think the question they asked him was ”was it one of the best punches of your career”

                    Not ”was it the best”
