The Russian Bear
Knocked down twice in the fourth, Whyte awoke the Russian Bear.
The uppercut reminded me a lot of what Mike Tyson used to do. Dip, throw the right to the ribs then come back with the right uppercut.
I thought Whytes best approach would have been coming out aggressive and just tiring out povetkin with aggressive body blows and hooks. He thought that he could drag the old bear to mid-late rounds and tire him out and win. That's a good strategy going against a 40 year old, but every second you leave available is a second your opponent has to take you out.
I know i didn't see this coming. I thought it was a matter of time before whyte started to turn up the heat as povetkin's skills has slowed in his age.
It must have been that vest Dillian wore to the ring that tired him out. A little jab at wilder haha. Speaking of, if wilder loses to fury, this should be the match wilder vs whyte, but with a rematch clause, we'll see whyte vs povetkin again.
It's good to see some long awaited heavyweight action again.
