Has Luis Ortiz got one more, last great run in him?

With Ortiz having only fought wilder so far it would be good to see him fight a couple of others , due to his lack of sales realistically some of the fights I would like (Povetkin, Hunter) I doubt could be made. The way fury fight fights, either rank 50-100 opposition or big money - he’ll avoid him too. Chisora, Joshua or Whyte could still be possible but unfortunately the latter two probably would be at least another year awayComment

I would be fine with him fighting Helenius, Martin, Ruiz, Kownacki, Povetkin, anybody. Even Wallin.
Ortiz is done as world title contender.
Problem with Ortiz is, he only fought Wilder on high level, and Wilder is KO artist who throws rounds away. Other guys wouldn`t do that.Last edited by JakeTheBoxer; 08-21-2020, 03:02 AM.Comment

Maybe a little left field with this, but i honestly believe Ortiz, like Malik Scott were paid to "lose" to Wilder. He already secured the bag with his performances and that Wilder saga was his last run.Comment

If Ortiz was paid to lose he did a real bad job in the acting department hammering Wilder in the first fight where ring officials had to step in to give Wilder extra time and Wilder dropping him hard in the second fight is also doing bad acting if the fight was prearranged.Comment

Nice one OP, gave me a laugh here. Look at these posters saying "Yes!", I can't tell if they're serious or not...
At 54 years old (or however old he is), Ortiz has very little time to find a career-defining win. Otherwise he will forever be known as "The Old Man Who Got Hyped, Then Knocked Out, by PBC/Wilder!"
His best win is probably TKOing Bryant Jennings, who was coming off a UD loss to Wladimir Klitschko. That was 5 years ago though in 2015. But saying that, Jennings has showed no form since before Klitschko, no notable wins, only losses in notable fights. Other than that, Ortiz has beaten an ancient, shot Tony Thompson who had lost to Malik Scott (
!) the year previous. Then there's Christian Hammer, who is a decent European-level contender. And Dave Allen...
