I notice many fans have no idea regarding the logic of weight clauses.
First off, professional athletes are responsible for measures if they agree to it in the first place. Boxing is the most ******* sport regarding WEIGHT! Maybe in the NFL or Baseball, one could see players fluctuate in weight gains because there’s really no penalty as the burden of performance would solely be on the athlete not living up to The challenge.
Take Chris Algieri for example. I’ve always envied him because he knows the game for nutrition and optimization. People don’t realize that Chris is actually a BIG Dude! BUT, he knows how diet and grind during camp that got him to 140-147, and he’s always been top in athleticism (not so much his conditioning for his chin...)
So, if I’m the A side and I say, “yo, we funna do it like the IBF. You can be whatever you want in the ring, but in the morning you can’t exceed 10lbs from the weigh in. Anything afterwards it’s all you as you please.”
Therefore, the challenger’s nutritionist, as well as the fighter, know the DIFFERENCE to make in making the fight! It’s planned months ahead of time. Really take the time to think about your argument regarding water hydration (which is silly since it’s all controllable or do able when you agreed and signed). Lol.
You guys realize the weight clause is an acknowledgement to test if the fighter SHOULD or CAN compete in the world of 10lbs vs 20lbs rehydrations! If you’re PUSHING over what an organization already allows then the BURDEN is on the guy who is DEPRIVED! Lol
It really means nothing other than don’t sign up to a fight if you can’t perform well.
It’s really not that complicated. Fans complain about weight bullies all the time while crying that the bully is being taken advantage of! LMAO
So to conclude....
Mexican Bidness!!!
