    Whyte vs Povetkin Breakdown

    Lets try this...

So whyte and povetkin will get it on this weekend. Credit to both for agreeing to fight because its a good fight and I can't wait. In order for whyte to win, he needs to jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, and vary the jabs in order to be less predictable. Whyte needs to stay real tight and not block loose like he did with chisora. He needs to counter and when exchanging shorten his punches up.

Dillian throws a killer left hook, but theres one fault when he throws it. He likes to wing his neck, thrash it and almost turn it when he throws the hook. He does it out of effort to get leverage almost, he doesnt do it all the time but he does do it.

Povetkin needs to use his footwork and give whyte different looks, feints, key for both guys, rolling, and coming in an angles and different paces, different bursts. Use those short hooks and uppercuts.

When comparing both left hooks, both throw really nice short hooks, a couple minor differences. Whyte sometimes looks upright, and his hand isn't planted close enough to his face. Povetkin stays very tight and keeps his shape, with his right hand up ready for the hook to land on him. See the gifs below if they load.

We saw multiple times in the chisora fight, overhand right, left hook, chisora barley missed, in that last exchange, chisora still landed. This is a risky thing for whyte against povetkin.

Povetkin throws deceptive left hooks, he does need to move his head more and tuck his elbows to avoid those body shots, otherwise dillian will wreck him to the body, the age won't help either although povetkin is a hard man and tough as nails.

By keeping shape and avoiding the left hook, not being upright.

Povetkin, overhand right, 3 left hooks in a row and almost has hunter on the floor.

I have it 55-45 povetkin but the fight will be competitive. If either guy lands, its goodnight

Povetkin is a better technician but he's also a 40 year old man and Whyte is bigger, hungrier and more physical

I cbf going into a major breakdown because its heavyweight, you'll never call it correct

Fully expect to see Whyte buzzed or on the floor early but staying in it then bashing Povetkin up in the second half to either a decision or late stoppage.

Povetkin showed signs of serious decline in stamina and punch resistance in his last fight with Hunter. His warrior spirit got him through, but I think against Whyte, who is much physically stronger than Hunter and a harder puncher, though not as fast, it could be a struggle. That being said, I can't rule Povetkin out. He is 3-1 with the bookies and that is about right for me. I think a Povetkin and Persoon DOUBLE at 15-1 might be worth £10-£50 depending on how much money one can comfortably afford to gamble.
