Comments Thread For: Katie Taylor Vows "Dominant Performance" in Persoon Rematch

Katie Taylor says she will silence her critics by putting on a "dominant performance" when she defends her WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine Lightweight World Titles against Delfine Persoon in a huge rematch at Matchroom Fight Camp this Saturday August 22, live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN in the US.

It is excellent to hear that Katie feels so prepared and confident and I am sure Define feels likewise.

My gosh the first fight was so good that it completely blew my mind, but what it showed me was that Delfine is definitely able to take full advantage of her superior fitness and strength, and given her higher work rate and ability to hurt Katie I can even see Delfine being awarded a decision on the score cards. It is perhaps more likely though that Delfine will take the fight even deeper into the trenches than she did last time and make a battered and absolutely exhausted Katie quit or be stopped in the mid-to-late rounds. Predictions aside, I just cant wait to see them fight again and I can hand on heart say that I have never looked forward to any fight as much as this one. Best of luck to both incredible warriors.

Domination would be quite an accomplishment-she was soundly beaten the first time around.

Amanda Serrano with 2 jobs (boxing, mma) looking for that big pay day can very well be kicking herself this weekend. Amanda's talent, ring experience, great preparation, and if willing to accept big risk for giant reward could have been victorious. My opinion is Amanda's team should have accepted the lower purse for first fight, with a contract clause requesting some crazy amount of money to give Katie a rematch. Similar terms Evander Holyfield accepted to get Mike Tyson in the ring for 1st fight truly believing he could win and hit jack pot on the rematch. I believe Amanda would have beaten Katie clearly and easier, then the new champ Delfine Persoon.

This will be a Froch-Groves 2 type fight

Katie had a bad night the first time and Persoon had the fight of her life

Katie has had to put up with people talking crap since then

Persoon will get ktfo and the haters will sit down.

She wasn't getting a deduction in her 400K, the only issue wsas the date changes due to covid-19. She was initially asked for a reduction in pay for the fight to go ahead in may or July, which she said no to.

And when things were a bit more stable she was going to get her full 400K to fight this weekend. In the end she ducked the fight for whatever reason. My feeling was she didn't want to fight Taylor in the UK. She just wanted to use Taylor to get the 4 fights deal, once she had 3 of those 4 fights she didn't really want to fight Taylor at the end of that.

That's why she started making excuses after her last fight. I wasn't shocked that she ducked the fight doe. I too would think she should have enough to beat Taylor, but she probably thought she wouldn't get a decision if she UD Taylor.

I don’t think sarrano was scared of Taylor at all when your a 7 weight champion u r tested, she had to pull out cos iyou don’t say hey I will pay you a certain amount and then say no can do.

I agree with the analogy, but have Persoon in the Froch role. Define is teak tough like Carl, but she can overwhelm Taylor with her far superior engine. Katie fights more like George Groves to me, albeit with a touch more talent and ability and less reliance on power. Like Carl Froch, Persoon has more ways to win than their respective opponent.
