Comments Thread For: McCaskill Takes The Torch From Braekhus In Historic Victory

By Corey Erdman - After defeating Cecilia Braekhus for the undisputed welterweight championship, Jessica McCaskill walked into her opponent's locker room to give her belts back. It's long been a boxing tradition and sign of respect, to allow the defeated fighter to keep their belt for their mantle, but in this case it seemed particularly necessary. Braekhus had held...

Bravo to Braekhus for being such a classy individual and making no excuses of why she lost!

It’s sad that most viewers didn’t get to see her in her prime an she will go down as arguably the greatest women boxer of all time!

McCaskill is just on another level right now, she’s improved so much from where she started!

It’s almost scary to say that we’ll never see her full potential cuz she started boxing extremely late so imagine if she started it as a child

Anyways, it was an entertaining fight and once again Jessica overcame the odds with her grit, determination, hard work, and perseverance!

Can we get a tourney of Taylor-Persoon 2 and McCaskill-Serrano going now?

Women’s boxing needs that, come on Eddie get it done!

The class shown by Cecilia throughout is just amazing. It really doesn't cost anything to be that classy. You don't have to be from any deprived neighbourhood or grow up less privileged to be this classy, her first loss and she was calm, happy for her opponent and her team. No moaning or whining even after all that she has achieved.

Simply put, boxing doesn’t deserve Cecilia Braekhus, and now it may not have her anymore." Truer words are hard to find in boxing articles. Great job Corey Erdman!

Happened with Larry Holmes too when he got close to breaking Marciano's record.

I think on some level the judges for most of these fight subconsciously want to preserve records for those they view as "worthy"

I wouldn't doubt that at all. Sad though, records are meant to be broken.

I'd hoped and believed in Wilder. 49-0 with better than 43KOs would have been damn fine to see in my lifetime. Can't blame the judges on that one though.

Point is, I'd like to see some record smashing before I'm too dead to give a ****.
