Hearing Frankie Gomez is training again

Take this for what it is but heard something very interesting earlier today. A homie of mine that lives near Frankie’s tire shop @ East L.A. said he seen Frankie Gomez running and shadow boxing the last couple of months around the hood. For those who don’t remember him The Pitbull was considered Freddy Roach best prospect back in the day also a primary sparring partner for Cotto and PacMan. Again, this is just second hand hearsay. However, if true and Frankie is serious about a comeback, it would make the welterweight division a lot more deeper. If Frankie’s gets back in shape and finds a trainer like Robert Garcia @ 28 yrs old, he can still become a legit contender @ 147lbs.

Nah, not a legit contender. He would need many fights to get that rhythm back and to the top. This guy ballooned to much in between fights in his post career. Just not dedicated to the sport. He was strong. Would’ve been cool like to see Frankie vs Teofimo at 140. Or a Frankie vs Vergil Ortiz at 147.

I’d say Vergil Ortiz is the most gangsta of these Latinos in these weights. Vergil Ortiz vs Jose Ramirez, imagine that fight!

Many fighters have a burning desire when they were kids to become champs some day and that desire never leaves them. When that fire doesn't burn in a fighter, the discipline goes along with it. Somewhere along the line his heart wasn't it in and it's hard to imagine him having the right motivation. That leaves money as the motivation and if thats the only motivation, something will be missing in him if he does resume his career.

There was another fighter from the LA area....I forget who his name was. He was a Flyweight I believe and he ballooned between fights and then out of nowhere, retired as an unbeaten contender which was a shock. When they lose the fire, it kills their career.

Vergil Ortiz is the truth, my boy! People love and are drooling over KingRy, but I have a feeling Vergil is gonna be the bigger star out of the two. Hopefully I’m wrong cause I also phucks wit KingRy AND Oscar Valdez.

True but so did Maidana. However, the last video of Chino I saw he looked in fighting shape. Also, Frankie has youth on his side as he’s still only 28 yrs old just needs to be discipline with his diet and workouts. That’s why Robert Garcia would be perfect for Frankie RGBA is based in Riverside not to mention he also trains his former stablemate Jose Ramirez who used to train with Roach back when Gomez was there. Anyhow, getting Frankie out of East L.A. is the best thing for him too many bad influences for him here. Honestly felt kid was blessed with God given talent just made to many poor decisions earlier in career that ruin him hopefully kid gets a shot at redemption.

Frankie Gomez has natural instincts that cannot be taught. He has enough talent that if he gets in absolute tip top shape he would give many people problems once the rust shakes off.

The biggest problem he is going to have though is a promoter taking the risk of having him in their stable and pouring money into someone who is known to half ass things and not take things seriously. I don't make much of him training again as he is known to just stop suddenly and just ruin any momentum whatsoever. His biggest problem is his own lack of desire.

Vergil Ortiz is what Frankie was suppose to be! I hope he does make a comeback maybe he has matured and is ready to dedicate himself now, he still only 28 years old

I'm hoping this rumor is true!

He’s young enough to do it if he’s talented enough, Which he seemed to be.

I mean look the weight of Fury and the lifestyle he was living for a few years before he returned.

It’s really the mentality that needs fixing. it’s alright running and shadowboxing and whatnot, but when it’s time to really get in and work hard, lose the weight with the desire to do it every day and fight, then it’s easy to slip back into the old mentality. He disappeared from the game because he lacked focus.
